    A Boy

Today at church, something beautiful happened that I may never forget. I was sitting with some of the kids at church and right next me was one boy who is around 10 years old. There is a sweet lady and her husband who faithfully bring him. This little boy shows up every Sunday, faithfully walking through the doors. My understanding is, that his home life isn’t easy, but despite the challenges he faces, he still comes week after week. Today, something incredible happened during worship. He started out lying in the pew, just like any other kid might do. But when the song “Waymaker” began, something changed in him. His…

Staying rooted in God’s love Amidst Distractions

Video is below the devotional As I read through Jude today, I can feel the urgency in his words. He begins by reminding me that there are false teachers around, people who distort the truth and lead others away from God’s ways. I see Jude calling out the self-serving nature of these false teachers, the way they grumble and slander. It’s a strong warning, but it also challenges me to pay attention to how easily I can be swayed by others if I’m not rooted in God’s Word and the truth of the gospel daily. In today’s world, where social media and online platforms give everyone a voice, there’s a…

    Living with Integrity

I’ve been reading Malachi, the last book in the Old Testament, and I’ll admit, sometimes the Old Testament can be hard to understand. God can seem harsh at times, but lately, as I dive in and ask the Holy Spirit for understanding through His incredible wisdom, I’m starting to see what God is really saying and how it applies to my life today. He’s been revealing areas in my life that I really need to work on. Understanding Malachi 2:1-8In this passage, God is speaking directly to the priests of Israel, rebuking them for their failure to honor Him. They had a sacred duty to lead and instruct people in…

    Am I giving my best?

Malachi 1:6-8″A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?” says the Lord Almighty…  “When you offer blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you sacrifice lame or diseased animals, is that not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you?” says the Lord Almighty. I have always tried to understand why God gives us stories of old from the Bible and does it apply to my life today? What is He trying to teach me? How…

    Fragrance

2 Corinthians 2:15-16 For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task? There are some fragrances that I absolutely love:  the smell after a Spring rain, the scent of leaves on the ground in the Fall, roses, lilacs, eucalyptus, mint, buttered maple syrup candles, apple butter cooking on the stove, cinnamon rolls and sugar cookies baking in the oven, chocolate chip cookies, a variety of perfumes and colognes….the list is endless. Likewise,…

    Work for His Glory

Psalm 90:17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands. Last evening I had a “texting conversation” with a dear friend.  After battling a serious illness, she will be returning to work in six weeks.  She is not looking forward to going back. She is exhausted.  Her journey has been long and hard.  She is ready to retire, rest, and not have a structured work schedule.  She is ready for a break; simply enjoy life.  But, sadly, she is unable to retire for another year. As I have thought back over my…
