    Eyes to See

When I pray and ask for “eyes to see”- Sometimes I don’t like what you show me. You open my eyes. Expose selfishness, harshness, deception and lies. What do I do when I see- Bitterness and selfishness inside of me? I have a choice-turn away in pride? Or repent of my sin, ask forgiveness and cleansing inside? Abba, You discipline those that you love. You care about the little details from far above. You listen to my pettiness; hear my whine. Oh, how You must get frustrated and laugh at times! You lovingly chide me and care. You listen; hear every prayer. Like a road grater working on a rock…

Don’t Let the Urgent Get in the Way of Important

I hurried, rushed through the day. Not stopping; taking the time to pray. I rushed around. Scurrying through chores; no time for God I found. Worries and anxiety began to creep in. I found my patience wearing thin. I pushed forward; busy doing more. Every burden heavier than the one before. I let the urgent dictate the pace. Soon I was caught up in a rat race. I stopped; realized that I was distracted. I bowed my head, quieted my heart and reacted. I asked God into my day. Took the time to be quiet and humbly pray. I had tried to do things my way. Power of Prayer

Luke 18:41 “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, I want to see,” he replied. Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Within the passage of Luke 18, the story unfolds.  A blind man is sitting by the roadside, begging.  He is going about his daily business when he hears a crowd passing by and asks “What’s happening?”  They tell him Jesus is passing by.  More than likely, he has heard the stories of…

    Jesus, My Help

I’m sure there have been times in your life, just like my own, when you have sought the Lord through tears and pain; asking God to do something that we think he should do and in the ways we want Him to do them. Those cries in the middle of the night when we are desperate. “Oh Lord, please help me or help (your loved one)!” We need to hear from God, to see Him move and do the thing that we know only He can do. We cry out with all of our being waiting, watching, praying, hoping. Wondering if He is hearing our cries. Does He really hear…

    Fervent Prayer and other things…

"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit...." Ephesians 6:18 "Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice." Psalm 55:17 "The Lord is far from the wicked; But He heareth the prayer of the righteous." Proverbs 15:29 Over the past few years, I have read several books on prayer. “Fervent Prayer” by Priscilla Shirer is, in my opinion, one of the best. You may find several thoughts and quotes from her inciteful book as I write. I have found that journaling my prayers is helpful. Then, I can go back and see the goodness of the Lord in…
