Faith in Jesus
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves,
it is the gift of god—not by works, so that none can boast. (Ephesians 2: 8-9)
To belong to Christ begins with understanding who He is and what He’s done for you.
God created you on purpose and with love. He made the world, and He made people to live in relationship with Him. But from the beginning, humanity chose to go its own way ignoring God, breaking His commands, and damaging that relationship. The Bible calls this sin.
Sin separates us from God. And no matter how hard we try, we can’t fix that gap ourselves not by being good not by giving money, not by going to church, and not by trying to outweigh our bad with good. The brokenness we feel whether it’s guilt, emptiness, or fear comes from that deep separation from the God who made us.
But God didn’t leave us there.
Because of His love, God sent His Son, Jesus, into the world. Jesus lived the perfect life we couldn’t, and then He willingly took the punishment we deserved by dying on a cross. He died in our place, paying for our sins, so we could be forgiven and brought back into a right relationship with God. But it didn’t end there Jesus rose from the dead, defeating sin and death. His resurrection means new life is possible. Salvation isn’t something we earn it’s a gift. To receive it, we respond to what Jesus has done for us.
-
- Believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died for your sins and rose again.
- Confess your need for Him forgiveness, a new start, a restored relationship with God.
- Trust Him with your life. That’s what it means to follow Him letting Him lead, and living in the grace and peace only He can give.
When you do this, you become His. You belong to Christ. You’re forgiven, made new, and welcomed into God’s family not just for now, but forever.
As a next step, the Bible calls us to be baptized. Baptism doesn’t save us, but it’s a powerful way to show what God has already done in your heart. It’s an outward sign of an inward change a way of saying publicly, “I belong to Jesus.” Going under the water shows you’re dying to your old life, and coming up again represents your new life in Him.
From there, you begin a new journey of growing in Christ. Like any relationship, it grows through time together. You grow by spending time with God reading the Bible to hear His voice, praying to speak with Him, and learning to trust Him more each day. He walks with you, teaches you, and transforms your heart over time.
